Privacy notice
The short version: we collect only what we need to keep you posted and invite you when we launch, we never sell your details or share them with any company (including dss+), and you can have them deleted at any time.
Who we are
At this stage, dssalumni.org is an independent, volunteer-run, non-commercial initiative by former colleagues of dss+ (formerly DuPont Sustainable Solutions). It is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by dss+ or DuPont. The person responsible for your data (the "controller") is Alexey Lesin, based in Switzerland, acting in a personal capacity. What we collect
- Step 1: your name and email address, and your consent to hear from us (the exact wording, its version and the time).
- Step 2: the year you left your full-time role, the country you're based in now, and any comments or ideas you choose to share. Comments are read by the founding team; if we share what we've heard, we summarise without names.
- Confirmation: the time you confirmed your email address.
- Link code: if you arrived through a shared link such as dssalumni.org/?src=li, the short code ("li") showing which channel it came from. It never identifies you or the person who shared it.
- Visit statistics: see below. We use no cookies, advertising or social-media tracking.
Why, and on what basis
To send you updates about the network and an invitation when it launches, and to understand in aggregate when and where alumni are (for example, how many are based in each country), so we can plan the network around them, and to hear your reactions and ideas so we can shape it. Our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Visit statistics
To see how many people visit and sign up, our own site counts page views and clicks on the "Count me in!" button per day, together with the link code if there is one. We store only these totals: no IP address, cookie, device identifier or anything else about you. If we switch on Cloudflare Web Analytics, it also measures visits, referring sites, device types and countries in aggregate, without cookies. Both are skipped if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, or if you opt out here:
Who processes your data for us
- Cloudflare, Inc. hosts the website and our sign-up database. The database is stored in the European Union. Cloudflare is a US company and handles technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the site and block abuse; transfers are covered by the EU and Swiss Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US and Swiss-US Data Privacy Frameworks.
- Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France) sends our emails.
We don't sell your data and don't share it with anyone else, including dss+, employers or recruiters, unless you give separate, explicit permission.
How long we keep it
- If you don't confirm your email within 30 days, your details are deleted automatically.
- Otherwise we keep them until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. If the network hasn't launched by 30 September 2028, we'll delete them then.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your details, object to their use, or withdraw your consent. Email contact@dssalumni.org or simply reply to any email from us; we'll respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, such as the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or the authority where you live or work.
Changes
If this notice changes, we'll post the new version here with a new date. If we ever want to use your details for something new, we'll ask you first.
